Long time - New Updates !!

I just realized it's been a while since I blogged. This year has been a great year so far. Why?

1) Marriage - Got married to an incredible man. 

In April 2017, my boyfriend Georgy got me a diamond rock, went on his knees and asked me to marry him. I said YES in a heartbeat. So this January, I got church married to my lovely husband Georgy in Houston, Texas. I spent most of 2017, planning and saving up for my wedding. Being 9 hours away from my wedding venue didn't help at all but I got the greatest support from Georgy's family. Eventually we figured everything out and had a small yet fun wedding. 

2) Big move- Moved out of west Texas. 

I was supposed to get back to work, 2 days after my wedding but apparently someone at our wedding gave Georgy the flu and we had to get him the TAMI flu shot. I decided to stay back to serve my husband and got back to work after a week. However I kept getting ultimatums from Georgy and mummy (Georgy's mom) to quit Texas Tech and move to Dallas. So after 2 months I finally discussed to hand in my 2 weeks notice and started packing all the junk I had accumulated for the past 3 years. I still remember asking Georgy to take me via the Tech campus before we left. Georgy drove me around the campus and I cried. Sweet Georgy even got me a Texas Tech coffee mug as a souvenir and now I drink coffee in that mug everyday. I knew I was going to miss Lubbock but I was excited for the next chapter.

And....

Here we are -  Present day. 

3) Dallas- Finally the city girl living the city life!!

Its been 3 months in Dallas. Meanwhile we went to Europe for our honeymoon, got back and I started hunting for jobs. And the hunt continues, its been a while and I am a housewife for time-being. Funny part is that I went till the final round for an incredible company, nailed the interview and yet lost to an internal candidate. I remember being so disappointed and sad, but I moved on. This whole experience made me even more determined and motivated, hopefully I will be working soon. 

This August, it's going to be 4 years in America for me.I am so thankful to God for all the wonderful blessings, I have received over the years and I can't wait to see what's in store for the future....

Dear Nurse

Today, I finally watched the malayalam movie Take off and I loved it. Though the movie takes you through various dimensions, my favorite take away from the movie was my immense respect for NURSES! 

Being raised a malayali, I was surrounded by nurse aunties everywhere.My dad's sister is a nurse and so are many of my relatives.Despite the high ratio of nurses in India,it is not a very reputed job in India. Growing up, I myself completely despised the nursing profession. The working hours are odd, you have to stay away from home, you have to do many degrading tasks like clean the patient etc etc were my arguments. Little did I know that being a nurse was much much more than that. Better late than never, I now realize what a great profession nursing is.

To be honest, Nursing is not just a profession but a service. A services towards humanity. Nurses help us, they aid us, they save us and most important of all they bring us back to life  I am so happy to be born from a regional ethnicity that creates the highest number of nurses in India. As I conclude , I recall  a scene from Take off where an Iraqi doctor asks Kunchako Boban (a male nurse), about why he chose to serve as a nurse in Iraq?. To which he answers" In our country people dont say good for our work" ! I hope we can change this opinion and learn to appreciate nurses and give them the respect they deserve.I also hope that Indian nurses get paid more in India. I am writing this blog to convey my love and respect to each and every nurse out there! 

Dear Nurse, thank you so much for taking care of me, my family and my friends ! I love you and I  salute you :) 

Sharing is Caring

This morning I same across a video which got me to tears. This video talks about  a school boy who opens his lunch box during lunch break, only to find it empty. Heartbroken, he walks out of the class and drinks some water from the school water fountain to fill his stomach. He gets back to the class and finds out that the empty box, is now filled with different snacks. Confused he looks around and realizes that he has a small portion of each classmate's lunch in his box. With a wide smile, he takes a joyful bite of a sandwich and the video ends with a smile on my face.The video intends that we need to take care of the each other at all circumstances.

This video took me back to my school days. I remember having a huge group of friends in 9th  grade. We always sat in a big round circle for lunch breaks and would pass each others tiffin boxes around. Everyone got a small portion of each others snack. My mom often worked early morning shifts and I seldom took any snacks those days.I'd be so hungry by break time but this ritual of sharing, helped me a lot.I am so grateful to my school friends. 

Back when I was growing up, my parents always forced, my brother and me to share everything with each other. My brother being the elder one and the smarter one, always got the better share and I'd be whining about it the whole day.Three years back, when I wanted to purse my Masters in the U.S ,he financed my education with no hesitation. I wonder if I would be half as nice and generous as him, if I had to do the same.

I believe I  learned my best bit of sharing when I moved to the U.S.From sharing an apartment to sharing each others clothes, it was and still is a great learning experience. 

Dont have tomatoes to make curry? No problem! Just run upstairs to your friends house and grab a tomato.

Hairy legs and no time to wax? No problem! Run to roomies closet and steal her stockings. 

We always get it SORTED!  I learned to share care and bear the most living away from home. 

I really thank God for blessing me with incredible people around me, who only know to love. I pray that I can do the same as well. I hope that I grow to be a person who loves the act of sharing and giving instead of only taking  !
